Mr. Shoki Matsuzaka developed a craft paper that is strong and easy to print on by incorporating malt dregs, a byproduct of the beer brewing process, into the production of recycled paper. Currently, small-scale craft breweries often lack the infrastructure to reuse malt dregs and are forced to incinerate them. Mr. Matsuzaka hopes to educate many people about environmental conservation, how circular economies work, and spread this initiative globally as a unique Japanese model for a circular economy.
